IEEE Education Society Call for New Initiatives 2024

 

* Please note there is a new step that requires IEEE Education Society Executive Committee (ExCom) Member endorsement in order to complete your submission and have your initiative reviewed. 


The IEEE Education Society has opened its 2024 Call for New Initiatives.

The Society anticipates two submission cycles this year. This call is for initiatives that will take place between June-December 2024. The second call will be for projects that will take place in 2025 and will open later this year. 

Education Society members are eligible and encouraged to submit proposals that align with IEEE spending rules and the IEEE Education Society's strategic goals.

The proposal is required to benefit the IEEE Education Society's mission and goals. The IEE Education Society's Vision is to be a global leader in Engineering Education. The IEEE Education Society's Mission is be an international organization that promotes, advances & disseminates state-of-the-art information & recourses related to the Society's field of interest & provides development opportunities for academic, industry, & government professionals. The Society is accepting proposals that benefit the IEEE Education Society membership through the professional development of its members, support at conferences, promotion of standards, increased membership , and valuable educational opportunities and resources for its members.

2024 Call for Initiatives Timeline

Round One:

For proposals that take place between June-December 2024.

1 February: Call for Initiatives Opens

13 March: Call for Initiatives Closes

March-May: IEEE Education Society Review

May: Expect email results

May-June: IEEE Final Approval 


Round Two:

For proposals that take place between in 2025.

Please note: Round Two of the IEEE Education Society Call for New Initiatives has been put on hold while the Society reviews IEEE budgeting process changes effective for 2025. 

1 July: Call for Initiatives Opens

  • Required Completion:
    • 2024 IEEE Education Society New Initiative Funding Request for ExCom Endorsement Form 
    • {If Endorsed} 2024 IEEE Education Society New Initiative Project Proposal Form

18 August: Call for Initiatives Closes

August-October: IEEE Education Society Review

October: Expect email results

January 2025: IEEE Final Approval

This call for initiatives is ONLY for projects to be completed in June-December 2024. 


The process and timeline for submissions are as follows:

  1. Complete the '2024 IEEE Education Society New Initiative Funding Request for ExCom Endorsement' as soon as possible. This form will be sent to the corresponding ExCom member and will need approval before you will have access to complete the official proposal submission to be considered. 
    • Please note - only complete and on-time submissions will be considered.
  2. Once you have submitted your request for endorsement, and we receive confirmation of endorsement from the ExCom member you requested - you will receive access to the '2024 IEEE Education Society New Initiative Project Proposal Form' to be completed by the deadline: 13 March 2024
  3. All submissions will be reviewed by the IEEE Education Society Finance Committee, then the recommended proposals will be reviewed by the IEEE Education Society Executive Committee, and the IEEE Education Society Board of Governors.
  4. All approved submissions will then be submitted to IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) for final approval in late May 2024. Submitters will be notified of funding decisions in late May/early June, with funding contingent on final approval by IEEE TAB. 
  5. Reporting: Within 30 days of project completion, the new initiative leader(s) shall submit a final report to the Education Society Board of Governors. The report should minimally include a summary of major activities, an assessment of project outcomes, including benefits to the Education Society, and any future directions for the project.
