Carlos Vaz de Carvalho received the Ph.D. degree in information systems and technologies from the School of Engineering, University of Minho, Minho, Portugal. He was a Researcher at INESC, Computer Graphics Group, from 1988 to 1996. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Computer Engineering, Institute of Engineering (ISEP), Polytechnic of Porto, Porto, Portugal, where he is also the Director of the R&D Group Games, Interaction and Learning Technologies (GILT) and has tutored eight Ph.D. theses and 40 M.Sc. dissertations. He has authored over 200 publications and communications, including nine books (as an author and editor) and participated in over 40 national and European projects, coordinating fifteen of them.
