Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry is a Distinguished National Professor, and Former Dean and Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, Pakistan[ https://www.muet.edu.pk/profile/professor-dr-bs-chowdhry ]. He also served as a member of the BOG, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

He has remained a Guest Scientist/Associate of the ICTP (under the umbrella of UNESCO/UNU), Trieste, Italy, for twelve (12) Years [https://www.ictp.it/] and three times a European Union Erasmus Mundus visiting Fellow [https://bschowdhry.info/awards/]. During the guest scientist and fellowship period, he delivered Keynote lectures in Italy, England, Ireland, the USA, France, Germany, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Pakistan, Spain, Norway, Bahrain, the UAE, Thailand, and Switzerland [https://bschowdhry.info/countries-visited/].

He has more than 4 decades of teaching and research experience across diverse fields, including Electronics, Wireless Sensor Networks, Intelligent Instrumentation, Condition Monitoring, and Photonics. He is having the credit of being editor/coeditor of books “Wireless Networks, Information Processing and Systems”, CCIS 20, and “Emerging Trends and Applications in Information Communication Technologies”, CCIS 281, “Wireless Sensor Networks for Developing Countries”, CCIS 366 published by Springer Verlag, Germany, IoT Architectures, Models, and Platforms for Smart City Applications, IGI Global publishers, 2020 [https://bschowdhry.info/book-publications/].

Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry has made outstanding and sustained contributions to engineering education for more than four decades, particularly at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), where he has held key leadership roles, including Dean, Director, and Professor Emeritus. He has played a pioneering role in establishing new academic departments such as Telecommunication and Biomedical Engineering, modernizing curricula, and promoting interdisciplinary research in emerging areas like IoT, wireless sensor networks, and smart systems. A passionate mentor, he has supervised numerous PhD scholars and guided hundreds of students toward international scholarships and global academic exposure through prestigious programs such as Erasmus Mundus, Fulbright, and Commonwealth. His efforts have significantly enhanced the quality of engineering education in Pakistan while fostering international collaboration and academic mobility.

In parallel, Prof. Chowdhry has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the IEEE community, contributing for nearly four decades of active service. As Chair of the IEEE Karachi Section (Region 10), he led numerous impactful initiatives, including establishing the Education Society, organizing more than 1,000 technical and professional events, and serving as General Chair for several IEEE- Technical sponsored series of international conferences IMTIC, INMIC, GCWOT, thereby strengthening professional engagement and capacity building among engineers and students. His efforts have been instrumental in promoting emerging technologies, leadership development, and global networking opportunities for young professionals. Recognized for his contributions, he has received accolades, including the IEEE Certificate of Recognition for outstanding achievements in member development and retention. Through his visionary leadership, he has significantly advanced IEEE's mission to foster technological innovation and professional excellence.
In 2022, his project for EU-funded CBHE CATCH_VR (Digital Twin) was approved. This project aims to enhance the capacity of higher education institutions through Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) using Digital Twining, with a consortium of educational institutions in Europe and Asia focusing on Graduate Engineering Education [https://catchvr-cbhe.eu/].
