Eldon Caldwell Marin is full professor (Cathedraticus), researcher and Chair of M.Sc. Industrial
Engineering, School of Engineering at University of Costa Rica, Central America. Also, he is distinguished lecturer (DL) of IEEE Education Society and past distinguished visitor/lecturer (DVP) of IEEE Computer Society (2020-2023). Furthermore, he serves as member of the Council of Engineering Programs Acreditation Agency of Costa Rica (AAPIA CFIA, member of Washington Accord, Lima Accord and RIACES) and Global President and Fellow of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society and Chair of IEEE IAS Society Costa Rica.
Dr. Caldwell earned his B.Sc. and Master degree in Industrial Engineering at University of Costa Rica and he earned a Master degree in Service Marketing, as well in Financial Analysis at Interamerican University of Puerto Rico; M.Sc. Health Management Systems at UNED, Costa Rica and a M.Sc. Operations Management at ITESM, México. Finally, he earned three doctoral degrees: 1-Ph.D. in C.Sc. / Industrial Engineering, Autonomous University of Central America; 2- Ph.D. (Sc.D.) in Robotics and Automation, University of Alicante, Spain; and 3-Ph.D. (Dr. Ed.) in Education at the University of Costa Rica, developing the “Theory of Socio-educational Exergy-Anergy and Entropy”.
Dr. Caldwell has been recognized by the IEOM Society USA with the “Outstanding Service Award” for his career of over 30 years as an educator, researcher and promoter of development of education engineering. He is the author of many scientific articles and two books: “Marketing of Social Products & Services”, UCR Pub. and “Lean Manufacturing: Fundamentals and techniques for cycle time reduction”, Kaikaku Ins. Press, USA.
Finally, Dr. Caldwell served as Director of Industrial Engineering Department (2013-2021) at University of Costa Rica, General Manager at Bandag Inc. Costa Rica, General Manager/founder at Lean Systems Intl., USA and Kaikaku Institute LATAM, as well as co-founder of Astrodinamika Group. He has 30 years of experience as advisor and consultant developing projects at Interamerican Bank for Development, WHO, UN, World Wide Bank, Ministry of Health of Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama; Costa Rican Institute for Electricity, RTC- Perú, Plan International-Honduras, Costa Rica Popular and Community Development Bank Trimpot Bourns Group, DOLE Fruit Co. and many others. In addition, Dr. Caldwell have been lecturer and keynote speaker in Europe (UK, France, Czech Republic), Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, EUA) and America (US, Mexico, Central America and Caribbean, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay). Lectures topics: Assistive Robotics in Engineering Education, Pedagogical Models Design in Engineering, Education Engineering Research using Grounded Theory, Socio Educational Exergy/Anergy and Entropy Theory applied to Engineering Education.
