Prof. Marquez-Barja is a full Professor at the University of Antwerp & IMEC, Belgium. He leads the Flexible & Programmable Networks Group and the Intelligent Networking Cluster at IDLab/imec Antwerp. He has been involved in numerous European research projects. He holds appointments as Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society and the IEEE Education Society simultaneously. He is a member of various IEEE societies and actively participates in standards committees. His research interests include advanced 5G architectures, edge computing, future end-to-end networks, 6G network-of-networks, and interoperability among 3GPP and non-3GPP systems. He also focuses on vehicular communications, mobility, and smart cities deployments. Prof. Marquez-Barja leads the Citylab Smart City testbed and the SmartHighway testbed in Antwerp, Belgium. He is actively involved in engineering education development, particularly in remote experimentation in e-learning systems. He has delivered numerous keynotes and invited talks, received over 30 awards, and co-authored more than 250 published works.
