IEEE Education Society IEEE Bhagawandas and Rajani Lathi Award for Excellence in Engineering Textbooks
2025 Nomination Form
Eligibility
To be considered, the textbook must have been published in its first edition in any language five years prior to the award year. For example, the 2024 award would recognize textbooks published as first edition in 2019. This establishes a five-year publication history demonstrating the impact the textbook has had on its field of instruction within engineering education.
- Any textbook winning the award must have clearly made an impact in its field of instruction through adoption at institutions of higher education, user reviews, citations in scholarly works, or through similar bibliographic metrics. Such metrics may be publicly available, and others may be retrieved through requests from the publisher.
- The language of instruction must be English and target an audience of advanced undergraduate students and graduate students. Textbooks translated from other first edition languages to English are eligible provided the textbook is normally available for purchase in English.
- The textbook field of instruction should be signals, systems, communication, controls, analog electronics, digital electronics, or electromagnetics.
- The textbook can have multiple authors with the honorarium shared equally among the authors.
- The textbook primary author (first author) must be an IEEE member in the nomination and award years. Secondary textbook authors need not be IEEE members. No author must be a member of the IEEE Education Society and no Society membership preference will be given during award evaluation.
