Position: Chair, Ad Hoc Committee on Climate Change and Sustainability in Engineering Education
Organization: IEEE Education Society
Location: Remote (Global Engagement)
Term: Ad Hoc (Typically 1–2 years, as determined by the Board of Governors)

Overview:
The IEEE Education Society is seeking a Chair for the newly established Ad Hoc Committee on Climate Change and Sustainability in Engineering Education. This committee will explore the integration of climate change awareness, sustainability principles, and environmental responsibility into engineering education. The Chair will lead this initiative by coordinating experts, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and developing strategic recommendations to advance sustainable engineering practices within educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy: Define the committee’s objectives and workplan in alignment with the IEEE Education Society’s mission.
Curriculum Development & Best Practices: Identify and promote effective methods for incorporating climate change and sustainability topics into engineering education.
Workshops & Outreach: Organize knowledge-sharing events, including webinars, conferences, and panel discussions on sustainability in engineering.
Collaboration & Partnerships: Engage with industry leaders, educators, policymakers, and IEEE technical groups to foster interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability.
Research & Policy Advocacy: Develop recommendations and white papers to guide institutions on sustainability-focused education initiatives.
Reporting & Publications: Share findings through IEEE publications, educational resources, and reports to the IEEE Education Society Board of Governors.

Qualifications:
Expertise in sustainability, climate change, environmental engineering, or related disciplines.
Experience in curriculum development, policy advocacy, or research on sustainable engineering education.
Strong leadership and collaborative skills to engage a diverse, global team.
Ability to connect with stakeholders in academia, industry, and professional organizations.
