Term: Ad Hoc (Typically 1–2 years, as determined by the Board of Governors)

Overview:
The IEEE Education Society is seeking a Chair for the newly formed Ad Hoc Committee on Generative Artificial Intelligence Applications in Engineering Education (GAIAEEC). This committee will explore the impact, challenges, and opportunities of Generative AI (GenAI) in engineering education, developing guidelines, best practices, and initiatives to support educators and researchers. The Chair will lead this effort by coordinating experts, fostering discussions, and driving impactful recommendations for AI integration in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy: Define the committee’s goals, priorities, and deliverables in alignment with the IEEE Education Society’s mission.
Research & Policy Development: Oversee studies on the impact of Generative AI in engineering education and contribute to policy recommendations.
Community Engagement: Organize workshops, panels, and discussions to facilitate knowledge-sharing on AI applications in education.
Collaboration & Outreach: Engage with industry, academia, and IEEE technical groups to create interdisciplinary partnerships and resources.
Publications & Reporting: Develop reports, white papers, and recommendations for the IEEE Education Society’s Board of Governors and broader IEEE community.
Ethical & Responsible AI Advocacy: Ensure AI applications in education are developed and implemented ethically and inclusively.

Qualifications:
Expertise in Generative AI, engineering education, or educational technology.
Experience in research, policy development, or curriculum innovation related to AI.
Strong leadership and collaborative skills to coordinate an international team.
