The sense of community created by our IEEE Education Society Chapters is one of our Society's most valuable benefits. Joining an existing Education Society Chapter, or creating a new Chapter in your area, is a great way to network and spend time with other professionals near you that are interested in educational methods, educational technology, instructional materials, the history of science and technology, and educational and professional development programs within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and allied disciplines.
The information and resources below are a great starting point for anyone interested in creating a new Chapter or increasing their current Chapter's member engagement.
Chapter Information
What is a Chapter?
Chapters are:
- The technical sub-unit of one or more IEEE Sections
- Society/Technical Council Chapters consist of members from one or more IEEE Societies/Technical Councils who share technical interests and geographical proximity
- Chapter activities may include guest speakers, workshops, and seminars as well as social functions
- Chapters provide Society members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level, enabling their personal and professional growth
- Established by petition to the parent geographical and technical organizational units concerned to fulfill the mission of IEEE
- Formed to serve IEEE members by holding meetings at the local level

How to Create a New Chapter
There are three different paths one can take to develop an IEEE Chapter: form a new Chapter, form a new joint Chapter, or expand an existing Chapter. Start by researching your area, then decide which route will best suit your needs and support a healthy, active Society/Technical Council Chapter environment.

How to Create a Chapter Website
Creating an IEEE Education Society Chapter website is requested through IEEE Web Entity Hosting and supported by IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (IEEE MGA). Once a chapter website is created through IEEE MGA, chapter chairs are asked to email the URL to the IEEE Education Society Operations Manager so that the chapter web page can be linked here on the Education Society website. You can request a chapter website through IEEE MGA by clicking the button below.
