FIE 2026: Call for Alternative Session Proposals

Call for Proposals

Authors and facilitators are invited to submit proposals for Pre-Conference Workshops, Special Sessions, Panels, and Student Panels at the Frontiers in Education (FIE) Conference.

Accepted proposals will advance the frontiers of engineering and computing education by providing participants with engaging, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences.

Alternative Sessions

• Pre-Conference Workshop: Workshops offer participants an extended, 3-hour interactive experience outside the regular conference schedule. Sessions should foster collaborative, active learning and leave attendees with new skills, knowledge, or materials applicable to teaching, scholarship, or education research.
• Special Session: Creative, interactive sessions approximately 80 minutes long designed to engage attendees at the frontiers of engineering and computing education. These sessions should enhance participants’ knowledge and advance educational practices.
• Panel: Panel sessions provide multiple perspectives on a given educational topic during a standard 80-minute technical timeslot. Panels should foster discussion, provide value to attendees, and contribute to advancing engineering and computing education.
• Student Panel: Student-led panels offer students a platform to share experiences, insights, and perspectives on academic, technical, or social aspects of education. Sessions should encourage interaction between panelists and the audience. Panelists may include undergraduate or graduate students, and one non-student facilitator is allowed. Example topics include first-year experiences, interdisciplinary projects, broadening participation, mental health, governance, generative AI tools, and transformational engineering education.
