IEEE Education Society 2025-2026 Officer Election Results

Position Statement:

As President-Elect, I will first and foremost support the President of the Society in executing their plans. I will be ready to collaborate with and assist members of the Executive Committee in their efforts. In this position, I will learn about and gain insights into the role of president and prepare for my term as president. Looking ahead as president, I would plan to be a steward and champion for the Education Society, starting with maintaining and building on the accomplishments of previous Society leaders. The Education Society is stronger and more effective because of their accomplishments, such as: professional services for the Society through Conference Catalysts; collaborating with the IEEE Educational Activities Board; developing and addressing strategic priorities; engaging with each of the regions; and highlighting membership opportunities. It’s important that we continue to support activities that are central to the Society’s strategic goals. Through these commitments, we are more likely to achieve not only short term benefits but also longer term outcomes.
As president, my guiding principles would include 1) meeting the needs of the Society, with a special focus on being member-centered, 2) fostering broad representation so that the board and priorities serve the Society worldwide, and 3) enabling officers to lead their areas, leverage resources, and engage with partners and volunteers to achieve their goals. To facilitate a member-centered approach to leading the Society, I would plan to start by having the board better understand the needs of members. This is similar to taking a student-centered approach to teaching or a user-centered approach to designing something. We could start this process while I am serving as president-elect. This will result in information about member needs that we would use to review current and future activities. In addition, we know that society and education are at tipping points with advancements in artificial intelligence. I believe the IEEE Education Society has an opportunity and obligation to make a difference. AI technology is emerging from IEEE fields, and education in all fields, including IEEE fields, must prepare faculty and students to use AI. As president-elect, I would like to explore ways that the Society might support members and collaborate with partners in AI education across Society activities.


Vice President for Membership and Geographic Activities:

Position Statement:

The efforts of my academic career are heavily focused on both the research and implementation aspects of engineering education. I aim to understand how engineering students at all levels can best be prepared for dynamic and fulfilling careers. I hope to serve as VP MGA because the Society is in a position to impact how engineering education evolves to meet ever-changing workforce needs and student populations. I am passionate about elevating the importance of engineering education research and of documenting and sharing best practices.
Here are some common themes and strategies:

  • Encouraging Research in Education: seek to promote research activities within the IEEE Education Society, fostering collaboration among researchers and educators to address challenges in teaching and learning.
  • Enhancing Curriculum Development: prioritize efforts to support the development of innovative and up-to-date curricula that align with industry needs and technological advancements. 
  • Increasing Outreach and Engagement: focus on increasing outreach efforts to engage students, educators, and professionals from diverse backgrounds and regions.
  • Awareness and policy initiatives: use policies and initiatives that support education in STEM fields, including seeking funding for educational programs, promoting diversity and inclusion in engineering education, and supporting initiatives to address global challenges such as sustainability and technological literacy.

With the experience I acquired during these years, I believe I am in a position to give a positive contribution to the Education Society, specifically in the field of Engineering Education whose challenges are enormous in today's world.


Vice President for Educational Activities and Awards:

Position Statement:

I am committed to steering our efforts towards fostering innovation, enhancing engagement, and securing sustainable funding to empower our members and the broader engineering community. In addressing the evolving needs of our audience, it is essential to implement a robust framework for assessing the demands of our diverse membership in education. This includes regular surveys, market analysis, and feedback mechanisms that capture the aspirations and challenges of our global community.
Metrics to measure the effectiveness of our educational initiatives are paramount. A strategic thinking exercise on education within IEEE will be instrumental in navigating the future landscape of professional development. This exercise will involve scenario planning, envisioning future learning technologies, and aligning educational offerings with anticipated industry trends. By doing so, we will ensure that IEEE remains a leader in shaping the future of education in engineering, technology, and beyond, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous growth among our global membership.
