Dr. K. Kesavasamy worked with Tata Consultancy Services for over a quarter century, since 1995, and retired as Advisor in Human Resources in March 2022. He held various leadership positions in TCS, Heading TCS IIIT (PPP) Relationships, Heading TCS Academic Interface Programme, Heading TCS Corporate Learning facility, Trivandrum, Heading TCS Initial Learning Programme starting with Design & Development of Software Engineering courses.
Dr Kesavasamy was on the Board of Governors of IIITs at Guwahati, Trichy, Nagpur & Ranchi and also on the Board of Governors of ICT Academy of Kerala for six to nine years. He was also part of IIITs (PPP) coordination Forum, chaired by Union Minister of Education. He was a member of CII Council for Higher Education & Member of PMI Academic Advisory Group for over seven years. He has been part of Academic Councils, Board of Studies in CS in various academic institutes, across India, for about two decades and presently on the Senate of IIIT, Ranchi.
He earlier served Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), for about a decade, as a Senior Software Scientist, where he held many key parallel responsibilities, such as Leading a Standing Committee for Software Evaluation, key contributor to ISRO Software Engineering Standards – 1994, Image Processing – Software Development & Applications, Leading Acceptance Test Programme at different ISRO centers, Heading Training Management and Heading Systems Management.
Dr Kesavasamy is presently an Advisor to IEEE Education Society – Kerala Section. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Senior Member of ACM and Life Member of Computer Society of India. He is a Ph.D. in theoretical physics with about 46 years of varying experience.
His alma mater Thiagarajar College Madurai has recently recognized him as a Distinguished Alumni, at their Platinum Jubilee Celebration, for his contribution to Technical Education across India.
Usman Naeem is an Associate Professor in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London, where he also serves as the Deputy Director of Education. He is a Queen Mary Academy Fellow in Learner Engagement Analytics.
Usman received his PhD from Queen Mary University of London in 2009. His research interests lie in educational and assistive technologies, with a particular emphasis on learner engagement analytics, machine learning techniques, mobile computing, and ambient intelligent environments.
As the head of the Data Analytics Scholarship Working Group, Usman has facilitated several pedagogical projects in learner analytics. His diverse teaching experience encompasses traditional programmes, such as BSc Computer Science, to degree apprenticeship programmes, including the BSc Digital & Technology Solutions Professional.
Usman is recognised as a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), underscoring his contributions to the field.
Roberto Portillo began his involvement in engineering education as an undergraduate student. Due to his academic performance and excellent interpersonal skills, one of his mathematics professors requested him to be a teaching assistant. Since then, he has discovered his vocation as an educator and has become increasingly involved in education. In addition to being a professor, he serves as the head of the Teaching Assistants Department at Galileo University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Science from Galileo University, Guatemala, and a Master of Science in Operations Research from the same university. His research began with his doctoral studies in Engineering Education, where he is currently completing his dissertation. His involvement with the Education Society started with presenting research papers at the EDUCON 2017 and EDUNINE 2019, where he obtained the best paper award. He continued with a more significant commitment to technically support EDUNINE as a conference chair in the 2021 virtual conference, where he received the prestigious Meritorious Service Award for outstanding and continued service to engineering education. In 2022 and 2023, he acted as a conference support chair, and last, in 2024, he organized the conference venue at Galileo University as a conference chair, obtaining outstanding results. Besides, in his commitment to research advances in science and technology, he acts as a National Contact Point (NCP) in the CELAC (Community of Latin American Countries) group for the SENACYT (National Secretariat of Science and Technology), promoting research infrastructure collaborations between countries in Latin America and the European Union (EU).
Professor Saliah-Hassane earned a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, a Bachelor and Master of Applied Science degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. He is currently teaching Informatics and Computer Networks and Security at TELUQ University in Montreal where he is carrying research on Intelligent Distributed Systems and Mobile Robotics. Professor Saliah-Hassane has received many awards in recognition of his accomplishments, including many IEEE Education Society Certificates of Appreciation, IEEE Education Society’s EdWin C. Jones, Jr. Meritorious Service Award (2019). And aligned with his work on Distributed Embedded Systems, the IEEE Standards Association award with appreciation for chairing and contributing to the development of IEEE Standard 1876TM - 2019 on “Networked Smart Learning Objects for Online Laboratories” (2019), the IEEE SA 2019 Emerging Technology Awarded to IEEE SA 1876TM - 2019 Working Group. Under the Candidate leadership as the Chair of Montreal IEEE Education Society Chapter (2005 -2022), the Chapter received the “2019 Chapter Achievement Award for sustained contributions of innovative educational and professional activities in the community”.
