LWMOOCs 2020 Registration
Dear Education Society Members,
We are just a little over a week away from the very first LWMOOCs virtual conference.
This year offers an unprecedented opportunity to attend and participate in the LWMOOCs conference without the associated costs of travel and attendance. In order to participate in this year’s conference, all you need to do is mark your calendars for the 29 September - 2 October, and pay the reduced registration fee, which is only $50 USD for regular participants who are members of the IEEE Education Society.
This year’s conference will use the Conf4me app to host the conference sessions. Participants will also use Microsoft Teams as a collaborative environment to comment and participate in the conference and sessions. We will only have one daily session during the conference, from 30 September to 2 October, and 40 parallel activity sessions on 29 September to collaborate and comment on the 40 posters that will be presented at the conference.
We will have more than 20 invited Lightning Speakers as well as 3 reputed Keynotes, from our worldwide community:
- Carla Padrel de Oliveira, Rector of the Universidade Aberta (Portugal), will present Travelling with Mooc’s: Explore Boundaries and Increase Knowledge
- David Joyner, Executive Director of Online Education & OMSCS at Georgia Tech's College of Computing (USA), will present Lessons we Learned from MOOCs to Develop an Affordable Degree Program and Lessons that MOOCs can Now Learn from us on Delivering Rigorous Endorsement at Scale
- Dan Garcia, a Teaching Professor at UC Berkeley (USA), will present Achieving CSforALL through the Beauty and Joy of Computing (BJC).
You can see the complete list of Lightning Speakers here, which include:
- Anant Agarwal from edX
- Dhawal Shah from Class Central, Barbara Oakley from Oakland University
- Justin Reich from MIT Teaching System Lab
- Carlos Delgado Kloos from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
- Jeffrey S. Cross from Tokyo Tec
and many more!
You will have access to the presentations, proceedings, as well as the ability to share comments with the authors, presenters, lightning speakers, and keynotes for an extremely reduced registration fee.
The "main" timetable will follow Guatemala time (CST - MDT), as the conference is being organized there, by the Galileo University. We hope to see you in Antigua in 2021 to participate in LWMOOCs 2021, which will be held as a hybrid conference. We invite you to join us in 2021 to see all of the nice people that will be presenting and sharing their information and impressions. Our community is so alive, and we continue to maintain our work, research, and innovations in the MOOCs arena.
We hope to see you virtually at the end of September for the seventh edition of the LWMOOCs conference!
