A Message from the President and Warm Holiday Wishes
Dear Colleagues,
My first year as President of our society is drawing to an end. During 2025 we have approved a large number of new Student Chapters, and our Student and Young Professional membership is steadily growing. This is a clear indication of the relevance of the Education Society in this era of AI influenced education, and also confirms the interest our members have in both their own education, and in their coming careers. We will continue to develop new activities for Chapters and our emerging colleagues through the coming years. Keep an eye open for career Webinars, and local and regional Chapter events!
During the year we have launched several new initiatives, perhaps the most important one is our initiation of a new IEEE Standard in “Responsible AI use in Education”. I hope that through these efforts we will help to shape the Engineering Education discourse worldwide, and provide guidance in AI use for long lasting and productive learning. We have also strengthened our Distinguished Lecturer Program, and I encourage you to approach us to engage these thought leaders in your local events. Participation can be both in person and virtual, increasing accessibility of our speakers.
During the coming year I will be attending the majority of our major conferences and delivering addresses to our membership. I look forward to meeting with many of you at one of the EDUCON, DEMOCON, EDUNINE, FIE or TALE conferences. Although my availability can be limited at some times of the year, please feel free to reach out to me if I can help to enhance one of your local events through attending online and presenting a short motivational speech, or an update on society vision and activities.
Finally, for many of us, the Christmas Season approaches, with some time off, and opportunities to meet with family and friends in a sense of community and celebration. I wish all of you, wherever you may be, and however you may celebrate, a joyful time with family and friends, and an opportunity for renewal. We will meet the coming year with new energy, sharing the mission to serve humanity through education, one of the key global development goals.

Yours Sincerely,
Arnold Pears
IEEE Education Society President
