Call for Nominations: 2027 Editor-in-Cheif IEEE Revista Iberoamericana de Tecnologías del Aprendizaje (IEEE RITA)
The IEEE Education Society invites applications and nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Revista Iberoamericana de Tecnologías del Aprendizaje (IEEE RITA).
IEEE RITA is an established peer-reviewed journal published by the IEEE Education Society that focuses on research, development, and innovation in learning technologies and engineering education, with a particular emphasis on the Ibero-American community. The journal publishes high-quality research contributions addressing technological advances and educational innovation in engineering and computing education.

Term of Appointment
The new Editor-in-Chief will serve either a three-year term (January 2027-January 2030), renewable once, or a five-year non-renewable term (January 2027-January 2032.)
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

Be an IEEE member in good standing (Member, Senior Member, Fellow, or Life Member).

Be a member of the IEEE Education Society.

Have demonstrated experience in scholarly publishing and editorial activities.

Possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
-
Experience as Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, or Editor-in-Chief of a journal is highly desirable.
Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief provides the scientific leadership and editorial direction of the journal. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing the day-to-day editorial operations of IEEE RITA through the manuscript management system.

Identifying and appointing members of the editorial board.
-
Overseeing the peer-review process and ensuring timely and high-quality reviews.
-
Monitoring and improving the journal’s quality, visibility, and impact.
-
Identifying emerging research areas and strengthening the journal’s scope.
-
Encouraging the submission of high-quality manuscripts.
-
Managing proposals for special issues and thematic sections.
-
Coordinating with the IEEE Education Society and IEEE publication staff.
-
Resolving editorial conflicts or ethical issues when necessary.

Desired Profile of Candidates
Strong candidates should demonstrate:

Recognized expertise in engineering education and learning technologies.

Strong publication record in relevant journals.
-
Experience in editorial or peer-review processes.
-
Ability to attract internationally recognized researchers to the editorial board.
-
Strong administrative and leadership skills.
-
Proficiency in English, and ideally familiarity with the Ibero-American research community.

Submission Process
Applications should be submitted no later than 22 May 2026.

Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated by a Committee appointed by the Vice President for Publications. The committee will assess candidates based on their editorial experience, scholarly leadership, and vision for the journal.
The final appointment will be approved by the Board of Governors of the IEEE Education Society.
