Position Statement:

In the last, almost, 5 years I supported several large actions and conferences for IEEE Education Society, and I could see that it is very important to strengthen the organization with initiatives that are very visible to the public, events (online or in person), improve the conferences visibility, with better planning and organization, and make educational resources and knowledge available for our members.
I’m able to draw from my experience as IEEE Education Vice President for Conferences and Workshops (2024-2025), as Bord of Governors member (2022-2023), as Executive Committee member of IEEE Romania, as well as my dedication for voluntary work and support of communities, to have a genuine contribution to IEEE Education at large:

To support activities of IEEE Education Society for conferences and workshops, as editor, reviewer, support the organization and the editorial process of the Conferences and Society publications.

To continue to integrate the activities initiated in the last 2 years, to improve the active involvement of members in EdSoc activities, to increase the recognition level of our flagship conferences (sharing calls, information and creating a general frameworks re: fees, common tool for papers, panels, members involvement), to strengthen the processes of the Student Travel Award – 12 per year by EdSoc, sharing information on reviewing and submission process, as to increase consistency across all major 5 conferences, increasing the conferences publication visibility (Clarivate, open access for some papers)

To support the enhancement of IEEE Education Society, the attractiveness to members, especially to women, young members, students

When it comes to organizing conferences and workshops, especially in hybrid formats, there are several digital tools that can help minimize costs and support the creation and engagement of a larger community of participants, and these are better to be unique per society: event and publication management, video conferencing and virtual event, virtual poster boards, audience engagement and networking, etc.

To support the collaboration with other societies through organizing joint workshops and events, in connection with major conferences, to integrate the multidisciplinary in engineering that is reflected in IEEE Education.

To focus in organizing events at regional/national level, where more members can be directly involved and can benefit, especially in topics like artificial intelligence in education and science, online engineering education, remote learning, educational technologies, open education, the benefit of using OERs in engineering education, etc.

Position Statement:

If elected Vice President of Publications, my main goal will be to strengthen the quality, visibility, and accessibility of the IEEE Education Society’s publications.

First, I will support editorial teams by developing tools and guidance for inclusive and multilingual publishing. This includes fostering open-access practices, mentoring new reviewers, and facilitating author support resources.

Second, I will work to improve visibility and impact across regions. Collaborating closely with Education Society chapters and editors, I will support themed special issues and outreach campaigns that reflect global diversity and educational innovation.

Third, I will promote synergies between conferences and journals, enabling smoother transitions from peer-reviewed proceedings to journal submissions, and aligning topics of high interest—such as AI in education, ethics, and inclusivity—with publication priorities.

Finally, I will ensure that our publications align with IEEE’s broader values of excellence, transparency, and equity, while responding to emerging challenges in scholarly communication.
