IEEE Education Society Call for New Initiatives 2023: Round Two

The IEEE Education Society has opened its second round of Call for New Initiatives in 2023. 


The IEEE Education Society is opening the second call for 2023 new initiatives proposals. Education Society members are eligible and encouraged to submit proposals. These proposals will be considered for funding under IEEE spending rules. Initiatives must align with the Society's strategic goals and will benefit the Society's activity areas and/or members to be considered.

This Call for New Initiative Proposals is only for projects that benefit the IEEE Education Society's mission and goals. The IEEE Education Society's Vision is to be a global leader in Engineering Education. The IEEE Education Society's Mission is to be an international organization that promotes, advances & disseminates state-of-the-art information & resources related to the Society's field of interest & provides development opportunities for academic, industry, & government professionals. 

The Society is accepting proposals that benefit the IEEE Education Society membership through the professional development of its members, support at conferences, promotion of standards, increased membership, and valuable educational opportunities and resources for its members.

This call for initiatives is ONLY for projects to be completed in 2024. 

The process and timeline for submissions are as follows:

  1. Complete the 2023 Call for Initiatives form by the deadline. *Please note - only complete and on-time submissions will be considered.
  2. All submissions will be reviewed by the IEEE Education Society Finance Committee, then the recommended proposals will be reviewed by the IEEE Education Society Executive Committee, and the IEEE Education Society Board of Governors.
  3. All approved submissions will then be submitted to IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) for final approval at the start of 2024. Submitters will be notified of funding decisions in early 2024, with funding contingent on final approval by IEEE TAB. 
  4. Reporting: Within 30 days of project completion, the new initiative leader(s) shall submit a final report to the Education Society Board of Governors. The report should minimally include a summary of major activities, an assessment of project outcomes, including benefits to the Education Society, and any future directions for the project.
